1857 British Raj atrocity exposed - from 1.8 bn victim Indian Holocaust to 10 bn First World Climate Genocide

The British had chopped off their forefathers' hands in Bengal a generation ago, so the weavers of Mahua Dabar in Awadh cut off a few British heads during the turmoil of 1857 – however the British responded by completely destroying this  5,000 person Uttar Pradesh town (for details see Tapas Chakraborty, “Found: Raj-razed town”, The Telegraph, Calcutta, 8 December 2008: http://www.telegraphindia.com/1081208/jsp/atleisure/story_10221665.jsp ).

In the early 19th century, the East India Company (EIC) , had cut off the hands of hundreds of weavers in Bengal in order to destroy the indigenous weaving industry in favor of British textile imports (some anecdotal accounts say the thumbs of the weavers of Dacca were removed). Twenty weavers’ families from Murshidabad and Nadia in Bengal had then fled to Awadh (to the British: Oudh; corresponding to modern-day  Uttar Pradesh) , whose nawab resettled them in the town of Mahua Dabar. The refugees taught weaving to their offspring and Mahua Darbar became a weaving town of 5,000 people. In  March-April 1857 when Zaffar Ali, a young man whose grandfather had migrated from Bengal, spotted a British boat coming down the Manorama (a tributary of the Ghagra on which Mahua Darbar was set). Local people intercepted the boat and killed the British soldiers by beheading - Lt T.E. Lindsay, Lt W.H. Thomas, Lt G.L. Caulty, Sgt Edwards and privates A.F. English and T.J. Richie. The British had their revenge – on June 20 that year, the British 12th Irregular Horse Cavalry surrounded the town, slaughtered hundreds and set all the houses on fire. On the colonial revenue records, the area was subsequently marked gair chiragi (non-revenue land) and thus .Mahua Dabar, a town of 5,000 persons, completely disappeared.

However, as revealed in this story from The Telegraph, the British-razed town of Mahua Dabar has now been re-discovered (see: http://www.telegraphindia.com/1081208/jsp/atleisure/story_10221665.jsp ).

In his book "War of Civilisations: India AD 1857" (;launched by the Vice-President of India, , Amaresh Misra, a writer and historian based in Mumbai, argues that there was an "untold holocaust" which caused the deaths of almost 10 million people over 10 years beginning in 1857 in reprisals for the killing of 2,000 British in the Indian rebellion (known to the Indians as their first war of independence, to the genocidal British, even to this day, as the Indian Mutiny) (see “India’s secret history – a holocaust, one where millions disappeared”, The Guardian, 2007: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2007/aug/24/india.randeepramesh and “War of Civilisations: India AD 1857” by  Amaresh Misra: http://warofcivilisations.blogspot.com/2007/12/10-million-people-killed-in-1857-india.html ).

The violent deaths inflicted by the British are overshadowed by the excess deaths due to deprivation - the British managed to hold onto India by keeping most of the population (except for public servants, Princes and sepoys or Indian soldiers) in dire poverty onthe verge of starvation.  The excess deaths (avoidable deaths) associated with the British Raj totalled 0.6 billion (1757-1837), 0.5 billion (1837-1901 under genocidal, racist mass murderer Queen Victoria) and 0.4 billion (1901 - Independence in 1857) - a total of 1.5 billion avoidable deaths (or 1.8 billion if you include the Princely States) (see “Jane Austen and the Black Hole of British History. Colonial rapacity, holocaust denial and the crisis in biological sustainability” (revised and updated 2008 Second Edition) : http://janeaustenand.blogspot.com/ ).

An anecdotal story was of the British cutting off the THUMBS of the weavers of Dacca in circa 1800 - this discovery exposes the horrific, continuing British atrocities into the latter half of the 19th century, part of the British-imposed and British-hidden Indian Holocaust ascoiated with 1.8 billion Indian excess deaths (1757-1947).

Of course English-speaking historians have deleted these British atrocities from history in a continuing process of holocaust-ignoring e.g. see Gideon Polya, “Western Holocaust Ignoring 1. BBC TV’s “The Story of India” ignores horrendous British atrocities in India”: http://gideon.sulekha.com/blog/post/2009/06/western-holocaust-ignoring-1-bbc-tv-s-the-story.htm .

However history ignored yields history repeated. First World-made global warming now threatens the Developing World with a 10 billion victim Climate Genocide this century. The grossly inadequate response of the G8 nations is effectively a statement of Climate Racism and a declaration of prospective Climate Genocide (see “G8 failure means climate genocide for developing world”: http://www.countercurrents.org/polya110709.htm ).  .

Top UK climate scientist Dr James Lovelock FRS has estimated  that fewer than 1 billion people will survive global warming this century due to unaddressed, man-made climate change, this constituting a prospective Climate Genocide that will kill 10 billion non-Europeans including 6 billion infants, 3 billion Muslims, 2 billion Indians and 0.3 billion Bangladeshis (see “Climate Disruption, Climate Emergency, Climate Genocide & Penultimate Bengali Holocaust through Sea Level Rise “: http://sites.google.com/site/yarravalleyclimateactiongroup/climate-disruption-climate-emergency-climate-genocide-penultimate-bengali-holocaust-through-sea-level-rise  ).
